Regan almost couldn’t bring herself to return to the beach where she’d lost Josh. The rescue team had never recovered his body, and she’d known they wouldn’t. He’d wanted the sea to keep him. The day he’d died, she’d vowed to stop chasing: love, life, happiness. She’d decided instead to enjoy the time she had. As the sun rose, she paddled out, waited, and shivered. As the wave approached, she caught a flash of light beneath the surface. She launched herself onto her board and wiped away a tear. Josh would always be surfing with her into every new dawn.
