Snow swirls through valleys.
Trudging through drifts, they forage,
surviving winter.
Ice melts swelling streams.
Earth’s new life sings, blooms, and plays
loudly bugling joy.
Long days spent lolling
on waving green hills, roaming
free as the warm breeze.
Short colorless days
say, “Appreciate the sun”
before cold returns.
