At the End

At the end flesh

melts from bone,

the earth becomes dust

again in the eye of

the great sun.

At the end steel

breaks, rocks crumble,

water, exhausted,

evaporates back into

the horizon.

At the end civilizations

traces of ruins

disintegrate

from the earth,

a slate wiped clean.

Time prepares for the next coming.
